LOOKING FOR:

Leprino Foods is looking to recruit a Day Shift Manager to join our Production Team on a permanent basis at our Magheralin Site.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring daily product conformance, customer satisfaction, effective labour provision, and work planning. A key focus of your role will be driving change initiatives to implement improvements and address both departmental and cross-functional deficiencies.

Supporting the Cheese Manager, you will help embed the Leprino culture within the team—fostering a mindset of excellence, urgency, adaptability, and purpose. You will champion collaboration through conscious inclusion, mutual trust, and respect, all rooted in a shared passion for our work and each other.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MEASURES OF SUCCESS
In your role, you will:

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships across departments to foster a “One Leprino, One Team” approach.
  • Drive team engagement and development by promoting a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered to succeed.
  • Support training, competency assessments, and succession planning to ensure team members meet role expectations and grow professionally.
  • Lead people management activities, including absence, performance, and conduct, ensuring consistency and fairness.
  • Champion health and safety by promoting a world-class safety culture, leading investigations, and ensuring compliance with ISO45001 standards.
  • Represent the department in site-wide safety initiatives and support employee wellbeing in partnership with HR and Occupational Health.
  • Drive operational excellence through active participation in SIC, DMS, and handover meetings, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement effective Standard Work practices, encouraging a mindset of preventing problems before they happen.

ESSENTIAL
The successful candidate must have:

Health and Physical Requirements:

  • No health issues likely to preclude employment in the dairy industry
  • Capable of prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and mobility
  • Able to undertake a continental shift work pattern and move between teams with notice

Education and Training:

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs (Grade C or above) including Maths and English, or equivalent
  • Training in Supervisory Management
Experience: 
  • Experience in shift supervision and people management in production/manufacturing
  • Proven track record of achieving production targets
  • Experience of delivering against plans.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work systematically to agreed guidelines
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to analyse/manipulate data and provide meaningful insights
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Able to maintain accurate records
  • Able to work unsupervised and as part of a team
  • Able to utilise resources effectively
  • Able to demonstrate safe working practices in a production environment
  • Able to display initiative, problem-solving and planning skills
  • Able to recognise own skill limitations and seek training

DESIRABLE

Formal 3rd level qualification or accredited training in any of the following:

  • Food Science / Technology
  • Food Manufacturing
  • ILM Level 3 in Leadership
  • IOSH / NEBOSH
  • Safe Systems of Work
  • HACCP
  • Food Safety
  • Lean Manufacturing Practices
  • Problem Solving

In addition:

  • Experience within a food or dairy production environment
  • Detailed knowledge of production processes in the food/dairy industryIT/ERP systems knowledge, including SAP or similar software.
