LOOKING FOR: |
We're seeking someone with a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills and a passion for maintaining high standards in food production. Experience in a quality assurance or food safety role is desirable.
ROLE PURPOSE:
To verify that a safe, legal, quality, and authentic product is produced throughout the production shift by monitoring and communicating food safety & quality standards, investigating food safety & quality issues, and undertaking a range of tests on finished products, in-process samples, and production areas. Verify through audit that all required standards are being adhered to. Monitor and report on findings, including corrective and preventive actions, and follow through with the relevant team as appropriate.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MEASURES OF SUCCESS
The main job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor and verify food safety, quality, and manufacturing practices through audits and process checks.
- Conduct internal audits independently and support external audit preparation; act as a point of contact for out-of-hours audits.
- Promote a culture of continuous audit readiness across all departments.
- Support document control activities in collaboration with the Quality Systems Team Leader.
- Make informed decisions on product safety and quality issues during production and initiate corrective actions.
- Review and assess on-hold products, including sampling and inspection, and present findings to management.
- Participate in complaint and incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Carry out product testing on finished goods, in-process samples, and production areas.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (PSOPs).
- Maintain a safe working environment by following safety protocols and reporting hazards or incidents promptly.
- Support environmental compliance by managing waste appropriately and reporting potential breaches.
The successful applicant will ideally have:
- HND or equivalent level in Food Science or related technical discipline or experience as outlined within 'desirable'. Open to recent graduates.
- English & Maths GCSE / ‘O’ Level or equivalent (minimum C Grade) Good basic knowledge of using a computer using MS office (Word & Excel)
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of ‘Good Manufacturing Practice’, Laboratory practices, and workplace Health & Safety
- Able to undertake a continental shift work pattern over 7 days, with flexibility for both days and nights for each lab, chemistry & QA
- Participate in cross-training within the department and demonstrate flexibility in supporting other areas of the QA function as needed.
DESIRABLE:
- Formal qualification or accredited training in auditing.
- 2 years of relevant technical/quality production experience in a manufacturing environment
- Relevant experience in food/dairy manufacturing and production
